Hello guys!
Let’s have a BOOK POLL. let’s start with the basic question. what are your favorite books? since it would be impossible to come up with a ranking, we can freely list and then keep adding as the days go by.
Oh no, this will be a long thread.
let’s try. i’ll start.
Ivanhoe because I first read about Richard the Lion Heart and Robinhood in a serious context of kingdoms. As a child, that really fascinated me.
Okay. enough for now.
Foolish over books,
The Fool

Hi The Fool!
Mine is “The Giver”, a sci-fi novel set in the far future. I like it because even as a children’s book it tackles things that matters to us… like memories.
Oh and of course, I recommend my all time favorite, “The Chronicles of Narnia”!
I also do recommend Narnia and I have given up on which book outdoes the other. I enjoy his personal books more, when I say personal, these books pertain to his writing on his past experiences, his philosophical beliefs and assertions and the like. Lewis is such a master!
When it comes to making sense out of a lot of things and putting them together in one frame no one beats Francis Schaeffer. I just had to own his 3 Essential Books and I am currently enjoying reading them. You know what absolutes means when you read his works. There is so much thought involved and better, a faith in something greater than the glory of human knowledge which a lot of books fall short and flat on. A writer (I think) by the name of Harry Blamires also writes well about the same issues although his is more limited in scope.
I’m more into the current events meets some element of fiction meets action-packed books genre. No one does it better than Lord of the Rings. It’s hard to imagine that Tolkien didn’t really want to mesh out conclusions from reality, esp. political reality of his time but sometimes they leap out. On the extreme of the same genre, I enjoy reading Rosenberg. He makes reading about the end of the world fun and convicting. It’s happening guys! And I don’t mean that to scare you. Rosenberg elicits a different feeling I can’t really describe.
Those are just some. All the best bookworms! It’s not a crime. =)
absolutes searcher!
I also love the books written by Francis Schaeffer, esp. “How Should We Then Live?” We consider it our intellectual guidebook because Schaeffer is so plain and down-to-earth in explaining comparisons between philosophy, history and art.
As for Lord of the Rings, it still ranks as one of my favorite book (my edition is a three-in-one book) but if you want to know more, better read “The Silmarillion.” The mythos and the depth of the history of the Elves, Dwarves, Ents, and Men are just amazing! For example, you will know there that there are only 5 wizards sent to Middle-earth, and the only one who was successful in his mission was Gandalf. If you want to explore further, read “Unfinished Tales.” It contains the longest lay Tolkien ever wrote for Middle-Earth, and it serves as the historical background of Lord of the Rings.
Before I was a super-fan of LotR that learned Elvish! But now, I’ve forgotten most of it. Hehe.
Hi geekers…
okay next book…. i really enjoyed “No End in Sight. ”
it’s a non-fic about this BLIND (yes read that again) Iditarod racer. grabe ang galeng. so riveting.
i also like RUNAWAY JURY. hahaha. i thought i would never like books made into movies but i love this. a real page turner.
hmmm…. let me leave a third recommendation…. oh…i like Einstein’s Dreams by Alan Lightman.

The Fool
I’m currently reading John Grisham’s The Pelican Brief!
AND I’ve just seen the Runaway Jury! I confess, I slept through it…NOT because it’s boring- far from it! It was way past my bed time.
When I woke up, my heart was pounding, I was dying to know how the movie ended! I think I even dreamt about it!
